Regulations - C
These rules supersede all previous rules.
The purpose and intent of these rules is to promote good sportsmanship and fair competition with a mature approach to settling any misunderstanding, which may develop among friends meeting in competition.
Hopefully, these rules will be applied to resolve any misunderstanding in a manner understood and accepted by all, with no lasting disappointments. These rules, even though not explicit in minute detail, should be interpreted, accepted, and applied in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Any rider who will be racing must please read and know all therules before they sign up to race.
We reserve the right to add, remove, or change any rule at anytime.
The Fossil Bowl is solely responsible for conducting all eventsaccording to the bylaws and rules.
The Fossil Bowl reserves the right to refuse services to anyone.
Parked autos must be at least 20ft from the edge of the track.
There will be no verbal abuse or physical contact (i.e., hitting,slapping, cursing, etc.) to any track official. Any rider in
violation of this rule will be disqualified for the day with no
refund and no points.
If a discussion between a rider and/or his guardian, and a FossilBowl
official get beyond control, the Fossil Bowl official has theright to seek help from higher authority.
There will be no riding on the track after the day’s racing iscomplete or during intermission.
If any rider practices without signing up first, he/she will paydouble entry fees.
On a refund, only 50% of your entry fee will be returned.
Free camping with quiet at 10:00 pm.
Sign-up and Practice
1. Each rider must walk the track before practice or racing. If rider is under 18,
then both rider and parent/guardian must walk the track before practice or
racing.
2.
Fossil Bowl does not cancel.3. The Fossil Bowl release forms must be completed and signed on both top and
bottom in order for the rider to practice or race. Each rider is responsible for
his own medical insurance coverage.
4. All riders must pay the gate fee. Gate fee is $10 per person with ages 5 and
under free.
5. Rider entry and sign-up will begin at 7:30 am. Sign-up will close when
practice begins.
6. All machines must be registered and an entry fee paid for each class run. If a
‘backup’ machine is used in accordance with rule #14, an additional entry fee
is not required.
7. The race director will decide the order of the day’s events.
8. For special events and back-to-back races, we reserve the right to change the
order of events.
9. Entry fee schedule:
Amateur class: $35 $6 to a purse*
Pro class: $40 $6 to a purse*
Dirt rooster $29 No purse
Pro payback: 80% of entry fee to 30% of riders per moto with 20% to a purse.
*$6 of every entry fee will go into a purse to be given back as the season progresses.
10. During practice, all riders who are black-flagged must exit the track
immediately. Any rider who continues to practice while another class is
practicing will be disqualified from the day’s events.
11. No riding will be allowed in the pit area, spectator area, or parking lot. Any
rider in violation will be docked one lap for the first two times. Upon the third
violation, the rider will be disqualified for the day with no refund and no points.
12. Practice times will be as follows:
8:30 – 8:50 125cc and above
8:50 – 9:10 85 12-16, Super Mini
9:10 – 9:30 85 Beg, 9-11, 85 Open
9:30 – 9:45 All 65’s
9:45 – 10:00 All 50’s
10:00 Rider’s meeting then races start
13. After the rider’s meeting, the race’s schedule of events will not be changed.
Bikes and Classes
14. Each machine will be required to display three number plates (displaying the
same number(s)) – one on the front of the bike, and one on each side.
15. The official machine designation will be a number, not a letter.
16. In the event a rider’s machine is disabled, they may –after officially notifying
the race director and sign-up clerk- change to a ‘backup’ machine without
being required to pay an additional entry fee.
Changing machines is notallowed while a moto is in progress, but must be done between motos.
17. In the event of a protest, the rider will tear down the machine for inspection or
lose all points from prior races. A referee committee appointed by the
FossilBowl
officials will perform the inspection and must use the following formula:R
2 x pi x s = V. A fee of $100 must accompany the protest, whether against a2 or 4-stroke machine. If the machine is found to be legal, the money will go
to the rider. If the machine is found to be illegal, the money will go to the
protestor and the rider will lose all points from prior races.
18. The only fuels not allowed will be nitro, methane, and alcohol.
19. If it is determined by the
Fossil Bowl race director that there is an excessivenumber of bikes signed up in a class to ensure safety, the first riders to sign
up will be lined up first on the starting line. The remainder will line up behind
the first line of bikes.
20. All beginner, amateur, and pro machines must meet the following
displacement ranges:
50 - Automatic 4-6 Automatic, stock only, not over 60cc and small wheels
50 - Automatic 7-8 Jr. Automatic not over 60cc and small wheels
50 - Automatic 7-8 Int. Automatic not over 60cc and small wheels

A 250cc 4-stroke bike may be ridden in the 125 class.
A 450cc 4-stroke bike may be ridden in the 250 class.
A smaller displacement bike may not be ridden in a larger displacement
class and vice versa (i.e., an 85cc bike may not be ridden in a 125cc
class, and a 125cc bike may not be ridden in an 85cc class).
21. Age limits:
50cc Automatic 4-6 For riders between the ages of 4 and 6 NO hill - NO creek

65cc May ride until his/her 12

April 1st will be the deadline date for determining the age of theriders. If requested by the race director, proof of age must be shown
before the rider will be allowed to participate in the day’s events.
22. Season winners in the Beginner and Junior classes must move up to the next
class.
23. The race director will determine all exhibition racing.
24. A rider may advance to the next higher class by completing a registration
form. No additional fee will be required except when moving from amateur to
Pro.
25. When a rider moves up from 65 Jr. or Int., they must enter into the 85 12-16
or Super Mini classes. They may also enter into the 85 9-11 class, depending
on their age.
26. When a rider moves up from 85 12-16 or Super Mini, they may race in the
125 Beginner class for only one series (6 races) and then must advance to
125 Jr. class.
27. When a rider advances a class after the beginning of a series, the rider may
take the points if they advance
BEFORE THE 2nd RACE.28. If a rider is being required to advance a class, there will be no additional fees
except when moving from amateur to pro.
29. Once a rider has registered and raced in a class, the rider may not drop to a
lower class unless there are extenuating circumstances given in writing to the
race director who will make the decision whether to allow the move.
30. If the rider has been out of competition for one year or more, you may move
down a class, except to Beginner.
31. No rider will be allowed to participate in two classes on the same day (i.e.,
Beginner and Junior or Intermediate and Pro). The classes have to be the
same skill level (i.e., 125 Beg and 250 Beg or 65 Jr and 65 Open).
RACING
32. All protests must be presented within 30 minutes of the grievance.
33. All starts are to be made with a rubber band, flag, or mechanical gate. When
using a rubber band, it must be at least handlebar height and connected to 3
posts, one on each end and one end in the middle.
34. Any decision to restart a race will be made solely by the race director.
35. If a race is stopped for any reason with less than 60% of the race completed,
the race must be considered void and restarted. If stopped with 60% or more
completed, then the race will be considered finished. The rider positions at
the time that the race was stopped will be the final standing.
36. The penalty for ‘cutting the course or tires’ will be the forfeit of one position for
each occurrence or obstacle missed unless the referee determines from all
possible witnesses and upon clear investigation that the infraction occurred
as a measure to prevent immediate collision with or injury to another rider.
To avoid the loss of position, the rider leaving the course for any other reason
must return to the location of the infraction and re-enter the race, yielding to
any oncoming riders.
37. The penalty for ‘jumping the start’ will be the forfeit of one lap. The starting
flagman is responsible for enforcing this requirement by immediately advising
the lap scorers of the infraction.
38. No help on the starting line will be allowed for a rider in
ANY class after theone-minute warning goes up. Stand clear of the area.
39. It is suggested that tires be used in marking the course boundaries. The tires
should be placed in a manner and location not hazardous to the rider’s safety.
A racer will be disqualified from the day’s event if the rider, a family member,
or friend moves the tires.
40. Flaggers will be posted for both practice and racing.
41. The consumption of alcoholic beverages in the pit area is discouraged.
42. Any rider caught consuming alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to practice or
race with no refund of entry fee.
43. Any downed but
uninjured rider may receive outside help.44. The following flags will be used:
Green- Start flag
Checkered- Finish flag
White- One lap remaining
Yellow- Racers will slow down, following the contour of the ground. Racers will maintain position in the accident zone and proceed with extreme caution.
Black- If rolled and pointed the rider is disqualified and must leave the track immediately.
Black- If waved, stops the entire race.
Yellow with Red cross- Medic flag, yellow flag rules apply.
45. “Natures Wrath” races can be made up.
46. There must be at least three entries in a class before that class will race that
day. The race director reserves the right to combine classes to satisfy this
rule, in which case the riders will race for one trophy, but will receive
individual class series points.
47. There will be absolutely no racing or practicing without a helmet, long sleeve
shirt, and boots. In addition, goggles, gloves, leathers, chest protectors, and
kneepads are strongly recommended.
48. In the event of a split start, the two-minute board goes up and does the
regular countdown. After the first class has started, the countdown will restart
with the one-minute board for the second class.
49. Any rider starting with the wrong class during a split start will be docked one
lap unless he/she stops, allows all bikes to pass and resumes the moto.
50. When the finish flagger puts out the checkered flag, the moto is over.
51. There will be no riding on the track except for the riders that are racing at that
time. Any rider on the track and not racing will be disqualified from the day’s
events with no refund.
52. If any rider, family member or friend is caught altering the starting gates, that
rider will be required to start backwards.
53. Payback and awards for amateur and pro classes:
1 to 4 riders- 1 place 19 to 21 riders- 6 places
5 to 7 riders- 2 places 22 to 24 riders- 7 places
8 to 11 riders- 3 places 25 to 28 riders- 8 places
12 to 14 riders- 4 places 29 to 31 riders- 9 places
15 to 18 riders- 5 places 32 to 34 riders- 10 places
Pros will be paid by moto.
54. The season will consist of three race series. The series names will be:
Series 1 –

55. Any rider who intends to race for a series trophy must race all races in that
series to qualify.
56. Previous series does not set precedence.
57. The following scoring system will be used to determine the series points
winners, scoring is done by moto:

rd place- 20pts 10th place- 11pts 17th place- 4pts4

th place- 14pts 14th place- 7pts58. All riders who do not finish a moto (DNF) will receive one point, providing the
rider and machine were both on the starting line at the beginning of the moto.
59. To receive finishing points the rider must have completed at least 60% of the
laps (a lap being all the obstacles within the described area) scored and
received the checkered flag while passing between the checkered poles at
the finish line.
60. In the case of a tie in the day’s events, the rider getting the highest place in
the second moto shall be the winner.
61. Series purse will be split 70% for 1st and 30% for 2nd.
62. The riders receiving the most points in a series class at the conclusion of the
series shall be the series winners. To receive the series trophy the rider must
have raced all races in that series. If the rider has missed one race, but still
has the most series points in that class, that rider shall receive the purse.
63. The rider having the 2nd highest points in a series class shall receive the 2nd
place purse providing the rider has not missed more than one race. If no rider
receives 2
nd place, the purse is given to 1st place.64. In the event of a tie in points for a series championship, the rider with the
most first place finishes shall be the winner. If still tied, the most 2nd place
finishes… etc until the tie is broken.
65. The rider who wins all three “series trophies” will be awarded a seasonal
trophy in that class.
66. There must be at least three entries in a class for series points to be awarded
for that race. (See rule #46)
67. The Idaho State Championship winner shall be the rider who accumulates the
least amount of points after finishing all four motos over the July 4th weekend
race. The rider shall receive 1 point for finishing 1st, 2 points for 2nd, etc. In
the case of a tie, the rider finishing best in the fourth moto shall be the winner.
68. The winners for the Memorial weekend and Labor Day weekend races shall
be figured the same as the Idaho State Championship weekend.
TROPHIES & RECOGNITION AWARDS
69. At the latest, any payoff shall immediately follow the last event.
70. All mini, beginner, and amateur racers are to receive trophies in accordance
with rider payback schedule (Rule #53).
71. If trophies are unavailable at the time of payoff, they will either be made
available at the next race, or mailed at the expense of the
Fossil Bowl.72. The Fossil Bowl Committee is solely responsible for determining the number
of series trophies awarded in each class.
73. The rider completing all races in a series will receive a Fossil Bowl race
series completion award.
74. The rider completing all races in a season will receive a Fossil Bowl seasonal
race completion award.
MEDICS
75. Only medics hired by the
Fossil Bowl will attend an injured rider. All otherpeople must stand back.
76. The
Fossil Bowl Q.R.U. has precedence over the bikes on the track.77. All air splints and other medical supplies must be returned to the Fossil Bowl
as soon as possible or the cost of the supplies will be charged to the person
they were used by or on.
78. When the medic flag is out, all racers will slow and maintain position, follow
the contour of the ground, and proceed with extreme caution. Any rider
disobeying the medic flag, as determined by either the medic or track officials,
will forfeit one lap.
79. Unless on a call, medics must remain in the area of the first aid station.
